Vah Zou

Gazing through the foggy windows,

I await your arrival.

Dressed in clothes of a lax woman,

Pretending I am in need of fresh air;

I fool my own flesh and blood —

Just for a glimpse of your face.

Is our intimacy to be scorned?

Is our love to be hidden?

I wonder every breathing second,

Making no sound of importance —

What is it for me to be alive,

If not without you by my side?

Ambience of the pouring rain,

The crackling of Zeus’s rage;

Because what else is for you?

Except the darkest of hues

Accompanied by a lost symphony,

Played by the citizens of Atlantis.

Is darkness all that awaits?

Is pain all that will follow?

The darkness fills my heart

And my vision gets blurry.

A tear reaches my mouth—

        It is salty.

The warmth of your embrace

A memory that will linger,

“I love you, you fool.”

Only the sound of buzzing,

For what is it to be loved?

If not as freely as a bird.

The door opens and I scramble—

The face of a monster in view,

I rush back, losing my conscience;

Red is all I register in my daze;

I wish to end this myself.

“I'm sorry, it is my fault.”

This snot-covered state of mine,

The rose-coloured dye of your neck—

“When did you dye your neck?”

I whisper as my logic leaves,

And we are parted once more.

Only Zeus remains a witness to our plight.
