I could write a book about the things I see in you,
page after page of everything I love.
Paragraphs dedicated to your voice
and the ways your laugh changes.
Praise for your love of physical touch,
prose about my heart racing when our eyes meet.
Words soft and adoring,
passionate and fierce,
wanting and hollow,
insecure and shallow.
I would bind these pages with my tears and
sew the spine with my longing.
My nails would dig into the soft pages as
I’d clutch it into my chest.
Take it away and tear my heart in two,
I’d do everything to keep it from you.
I’ll hide my little book,
keep the stories tucked behind my brow.
You’ll never know how it ends,
but at least it’s safe for now.
