TITLE: "pen ink"

AUTHOR: Hannah K.

a pen scrapes along the

surface of my paper tearing

holes in the thin parchment.

i press harder.

i write so i do not think

and i think so i do not feel

i wish to find

what makes

us

happy.

what makes

me

happy?

i don’t think it’s working.

i do not think anything has ever worked

properly.

a crack

plastic digs into my palms

ink splatters

and stains

   because how

   did everything

go

so

wrong.

was it ever alright?
