there is a nest in my bedroom window,

(unclosable window)

in the

dipping

crevasse

of the space

between the seal and the ledge.

a wasp has made her home there:

folded wings and brownish curves.

i consulted a book on entomology,

says the wasp is a female

(says that she’s likely a mother).

mother wasp laid her eggs

one afternoon

mid-july, i think

one year ago—

well, eleven months—

when the sun was relentless

and unforgiving.

it’s nice that she sought refuge

here, with me, together.

now i can’t close my bedroom window

without desecrating her home

and taking her babies.

there is a wasp in my bedroom window,

(unclosable window)

and we live

together

in unbonded closeness

intended coincidence.

i wonder what she thinks of me.
