Violence or Valiance?

Writer: The Elysian ChroniclesThe Elysian Chronicles

We must choose! We must make our stance clear! Every single one of us! Violence or valiance? Will to live and will to love, or will to hate and will to die? Freedom to: not be enslaved, or to enslave?

There lived a child, once upon a time in a tattered timeline, who knew neither hatred nor rage; a spirited, radiant child. That loving serenity crumbled, when he was protected no more by the gingerly care of his parents. He ventured out into the world. He made friends, he made foes. He was loved, he was hated. And one day he was attacked by a hideous little boy who hated him, hated him without reason. The radiant boy was left confused, but the wretched boy had found joy; the twisted joy that lives where light is gone.

They continued fighting and the animosity between them intensified. The radiant boy was losing his radiance, his light diminishing with each passing day. He now understood hatred, understood anger and fear, and when he had tasted the final poison of "joy in another's sorrow" the antagonist was gone from his life.

Time moved forth to another pointless point and the boy had forgotten about his radiance. He’d forgotten that once upon a time in a tidy timeline he knew no fear nor hatred.

The wretched boy returned to his life, this time without the hatefulness which was his sign and sigil; he had no reason, conscious or not, to loathe this languid boy.The once-radiant boy had turned into a Forlorn phantom. A phantom that no longer had the verve to dance in the shadows.

And one day this phantom boy crossed paths with the wretched boy. The presence of that being brought back all the memories of the boy's history to his awareness. The vision of his lost light! He could see that this boy was more joyful than him, and yet it was this odious creature that had stolen from him his halcyon past. And this time it was he who –filled with rage– attacked the hideous creature, and it was he who became the bully, and it was he who was consumed by the twisted joy.

Years passed. He married a woman and brought forth a child into this world. His child was radiant. His radiance was unendurable. He hatefully loved his child. He was softened and enraged. This once-radiant man was now in utter turmoil; he now had to choose to either become an angel once more, or to remain a fallen angel.Cowardice or Courage? Violence or valiance? And it was then he realised he had to face his shadow.
